Welcome to DiabetesRebalanced.org
I’m honored that God has chosen me to be history's 1st African-American diabetic to complete the Ironman Triathlon. As I begin this incredible journey to inspire a lifestyle of health and fitness in the African-American community, I hope that all ethnic groups embrace my achievement, so that together we can all fight a good fight against diabetes until a cure is soon discovered.
My name is Aaron Perry and I believe in leading by example. I also believe that if you're a diabetic - you have to rebalance your priorities in life. I know this because I've been an insulin-dependent diabetic since 1992 and a year ago I rebalanced my life. Yes, I'm a diabetic, but that's not all that I am. I'm a small business owner, an athlete, a Christian, an African American, and since September 11, 2005, an Ironman Triathlete.
I'm the first African American insulindependent diabetic in the world to ever finish an Ironman Triathlon. And that's no small feat. Considered the most grueling endurance event in the world, an Ironman Triathlon consists of a 2.4mile swim, a
112mile bike ride and a 26.2mile run. I completed the event held in Madison, Wisconsin in 16 hours, 35 minutes and 17 seconds.
